It wasn't down to the Labour Party that the scheme wasn't tried, more the ethics of our courts.
But the idea that you carry out a bad idea that will impact people's lives just to be able to say I told you so, is both morally and politically wrong.

The best argument against ID Cards is that the Government hasn't made a case for why we need them and how they will opporate to the benefit of citizens.
If the Government doesn't make that case why should the citizen agree to give up their current freedom to not be expected to have an ID card.
