Switched to @bookshop.org as well. In addition to the experience, a portion of my purchase goes to my local indie bookstore, @curiomrvosa.
FWIW i’ve switched to @bookshop.org for ebooks and Libro for audio books and with very few exceptions had the exact same experience as Amazon without the greasy aftertaste. Highly recommended.

When you find out about Libro.fm, an alternative to Amazon-owned Audible that’s 100% employee owned, a Certified B Corporation, and shares profits with 4,000+ independent bookshops 😍

Weird, right?
Delta fucked up my reservation today so I called up customer service and was friendly and personable to Steve, the Delta rep, and lo and behold, the fuck-up was remedied almost instantly, wow, it's almost like if you're not a complete shit to people, they'll go out of their way to be helpful to you

I'm reading an Ellis Peters Brother Cadfael mystery, THE PILGRIM OF HATE.

I'm finishing up Poul Anderson's The Broken Sword (history/saga-type storytelling is catnip for me), and excited to crack open Amal el-Mohtar's The River Has Roots next.

When I took a polysci class in college, the prof told us that the purpose of a political party is to capture the government so it could make policy.

Trump was supposed to make American great again. Are we there yet? Because I’m mostly embarrassed. 1/

This is what happens when you don’t know how shit works. Or care how it works.
US farmers sold $2 billion of food to USAID. Not any more.

- US farmers provided 41% of food delivered by USAID
- $340M of purchases/shipments are now paused. Over 680,000 tonnes.
- Food stranded in Houston
- Aid stopped in transit.

The world’s poor starving, food rotting & US farmers screwed.
Gutting USAID threatens billions of dollars for U.S. farms, businesses
U.S. businesses that sold goods and services to USAID are in limbo, including American farms dealing in rice, wheat and soybeans.
