Labour may campaign from the left if they see the Greens and Your Party are a threat to their progressive vote. But I expect they may want it both ways and campaign from the right where they're challenged by Reform.

But in a first-past-the-post system where most general elections have been won by the Tories, the Labour Party has long since concluded that they must appeal to the right in order to win, which obviously shifts their policy that way too.

It's up to the Greens and others on the left to disprove that

David Cameron foolishly caved in to calls for a referendum on membership because he thought he would win it. The lesson I take from that is never to call for a referendum on an issue unless you want something to change.
