Father, husband, progressive, regulator, committed to delivering a Net Zero NHS. Too much time spent watching sport
For any lawyers out there, I’m involved in an arbitration and on a preliminary issue the arbitrator says he will award interest on costs against me on a daily compound basis with an annual rate of 25%, in his words this is ‘punitive’ to ‘deter’ late payment. Seems a bit harsh, no?

Just to say the Greens and Lib Dems taken together are outpolling Reform: maybe Labour could start from a few assumptions it actually believes
- Brexit was a disaster
- Climate change presents opportunity for clean growth
- Delivering social justice is THE purpose
Oh and actually govern

Has anyone else entered the Kafkaesque realms of arbitration? I’m involved in a property arbitration atm and WTAF

Sorry to be a ‘told you so’ but in January I said we need a clock on throw-ins/corners as football is turning into the NFL. I actually like this anti-football stuff but it takes soooo long

@stephenkb.bsky.social I am genetically programmed to hate Arsenal, but this throwback to George Graham team I’m developing a bit of a soft spot for. Clean sheets, corners and the understated genius of Saka. I’ve always, and unfashionably for the last 20 years, loved ‘pragmatic’ football.

After Starmer yesterday the debate has moved quickly to carers and how much they should be paid to ‘attract British workers’. If progressives accept we need migrant labour why accept the premise that British carers are somehow better than migrants? It’s a trap, pay and respect ALL carers fairly

So this from Fox - Trump and Texas want Mexican water because there are more droughts affecting Texas citrus growers. Texas produces 43% of US oil…
Trump threatens tariffs and sanctions on Mexico for 'stealing' water from Texas farmers
President Trump said in a social media post that he would impose tariffs and sanctions on Mexico if it does not comply with a treaty from 1944 to provide water to South Texas.

@lawsocietygazette.bsky.social has the Law Society commented on the government’s role in the suspension of the Sentencing Guidelines?

Watching lots of football this week. Should be there a time-clock on corners/free kicks, it’s starting to feel like the NFL?

If Musk is turning into the archetypal Bond villain, and the UK is his new target, who will be our ‘Bond’?

In 2025 I’m going to post a bit more. Just thoughts.

Day 1.

People are talking up Reform’s chances WAY too much. And doing it will create reactions - from parties, and voter expectations. It’s a gift to Reform, but it’s misguided. Just think, for a minute, the hurdles they need to overcome!

From the appalling comments this film is getting on X it’s clear to me if we want to avoid a dangerous chain of events which could one day see Britain joining Russia & Belarus as the only European countries outside the ECHR we need to constantly call out this insane drumbeat from the right to leave
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage says

“We need to leave the ECHR so we can deport people that come illegally & take back control of our borders & that’s what the public wants”

Share if you disagree with his populist boll**** the UK should join Russia & Belarus outside the ECHR

I bet the BBC are fuming with Gregg Wallace after his “13 middle class women of a certain age” comment. After nearly 20 years as supportive employer he pays them back by attacking a core audience demographic. Now, that they won’t forgive him for!

I dunno, I’m quite happy with migration. It provides needed workers and cultural richness. Data support that migrants make a net financial contribution to their host country - and on top of that there’s all the other stuff they contribute. Maybe I’m a demographic of one.

I’m not against a review of Physicians Associates but? just to say, they have been in the UK since 2003 and must be wondering what they’ve done wrong all of a sudden. It’s fine to debate regulation (which PAs want) or scope of work, but let’s not rush to the ‘they’re all rubbish and unsafe’ trope

I found this utterly fascinating: ppl are more prepared to cut a politician from "their side" slack - even when they know it's a fictitious politician. Bias is conscious. Bit bracing for those delusions we're fair minded

Does every press office have a playbook - when employee/celebrity/chairman is accused of anything always say: “While the allegations are historical”
