I’m currently being haunted by the spirit of Betty Boo (Doin’ the Do) - she randomly popped up in conversation last week and ever since she’s followed me… charity shops, on the radio. Here’s my prediction for a place on CBB next year.

Fucking gutted to hear about Pauline Collins. Shirley Valentine is a life affirming performance that stole my heart and so many others. Go watch that film and let it change your life.

Obsessed with these awful Halloween rebrands this year. These are four of my favourites. Can’t stop thinking about Halloween log… more seasonal logs please!

Not necessarily saying it was any good, but ‘Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere’ is the most I’ve thought about a film in ages. So much mishandled but lots of interesting moments. Amazed that I can’t stop thinking about it.

I think there’s something incredibly chic and glamorous about a box of wine.

Saw this advert in the cinema and for a full four seconds I thought this was Gary Barlow advertising Pepsi.

I keep thinking about that time where people would wear Ramones t shirts and the criticism would be “bet you can’t name 5 Ramones songs”. Are we mere moments away from that Topman Rihanna tee being vintage and all the youths wearing it but not able to name any tracks from Loud?

In work today, a child (struggling to pronounce Rihanna) asked me who she was. It dawned on me that the youth don’t know who she is.

I wasn’t sure but I’m all here for sending our best musical theatre talent again. I wasn’t sure on the song to start with, it’s a great direction that doesn’t go all the way, dropping most of its chorus en route. BUT these girls are going to deliver potentially the best vocals of the year!

This tends to pass me by. I really enjoy the thumping beat that carries us into the chorus. I guess, that’s where I sort of lose touch a bit. It feels filmic, so hopefully we’ve got cracking staging that will sell this song even further.

It’s very beautiful and I really respect the song, the for me it doesn’t get competitive until the final 50 seconds when it really starts to elevate. I tend to switch off until that part and have to keep myself listening out for it. It feels like poetry and I predict a strong jury vote is incoming.

This really does have it all. I’m totally sold by this and the only act I’d accept beating France in the end. The song is catchy, the routine is polished and the boys are full of charm. This is far more than a comedy song, this is a perfect package. My winners.

Whilst I don’t think this is Spain’s most polished presentation, I can’t help but get lured in by Melody and her enchanting presence. The silliness of the music is transformed by an anthemic chorus that ultimately won me over. DIVA! I hope it gets the same crowd love that Zorra got!
May 12, 2025 at 9:21 PM
Now I know this isn’t the most popular entry, but I actually don’t mind this. It feels very video game soundtrack, but it’s a hell of force behind the vocal and really tells the story with power. The music is emotive and really does get me. I can’t see it scoring high, but potentially a dark horse?

An absolute anthem. The mad origin story of this makes me love it even more. I love how much of an underdog SM are, and with this riot of a song it’s a winning combination. I fear the nature of the performance will hurt them, but maybe an all time high for San Marino here?

Love the gentleness of this song. It ticks all of my boxes and it’s something I’ve found myself returning to a lot. Feels like a classic Portuguese entry and I hope it does the numbers for them. The final minute is my highlight. Will definitely be supporting the boys to be a rogue qualifier.

It’s taken me a while to get here with this one but I can totally appreciate it now. Fear this could be the shock NQ of SF1. I predict incredible staging is on its way which may help it. I think it’s a great piece of storytelling.
