My first Tern was on 0% finance … which meant that I was still paying for it 2 years after it was nicked. Wholly agree that there should be a tax incentive for evokes in the way there is for EVs

I’ve owned two Terns, both stolen, neither bought on salary sacrifice as I’m self-employed

I represent an electorate that probably has the highest concentration of Tern owners in the world! I’m very keen that they vote for me again next year. But I don’t think salary sacrifice will make much of a difference to their transport choices.

Very good point. But perhaps harder to administer?

Nonsense. There’s a called hyperinflation and another thing called the bond markets. We currently spend 10% of government spending in interest payments.

The devil will be in the detail. If low-income people continue to get tax relief to buy a decent bike (even an e-bike) to use for everyday use then great. I don’t see why high earners should get massive tax relief funded by low income people to buy a £10k carbon framed road bike.

There are many subtle and complex arguments one can have about the future of the BBC — but I guarantee you that no other channel or streaming service will be as committed to factual programming, children’s education, history shows, religious discussion, poetry, arts, or state of the nation debate
