Overall, in my view a good basis for a pragmatic, in EU affairs more bolder Germany. It has less grand rhetoric than previous coalition treaties (no EU federal state, no European army), but also less ruling options out.

In these volatile times, both can give more leeway to the German government.

It's the e(gg)conomy, stupid! Grocery prices have long played a role in American politics. In 1992, a dozen eggs cost $0.99, as George H.W. Bush's debate preparation book shows.

Bush's advisers feared that he might appear out of touch with American people, so they made him learn his egg prices.
