That’s not to say there aren’t a good number of Necromunda players who have tried and love Combat Zone - last year saw more new CZ players - but like you say, there aren’t as many as you’d think there’d be.

And now I have an Orlock gang to go with my Tyger Claws and Zoners. 😅

Nobody thinks its a slick system, everyone complains about the number of books they need to play. But its a comfortable familiar world which they can set their gang’s narrative exploits, and they’re very happy there.

I got games in, but only with folks that specifically came to play Combat Zone.

It’s not just a problem for new games/settings, if that makes you feel better. I spent this weekend at a predominantly Necromunda skirmish event playing/demoing Cyberpunk Red Combat Zone. Even after 2077 and Edgerunners, where folks love the setting, the 40K lore drags them in and keeps them there.

If he eats your whole posse I’m pretty sure you get to call him Dave.

Ah, true. I think individual ones maybe have a bit of a rep, like Black Shuck, but then I apparently grew up in prime Barghest territory and had no real knowledge of it at all.

They are pretty cool though and extremely easy to convince yourself you’ve seen, so I guess I should support them better.

It’s got to be Nessie.

I actually had to check wikipedia for my list of options, but that’s the only one that gets any PR in the UK.

Ah, I thought there might be one or two more but all I could remember was the pilot and Generations.

A cautious crew would have done it most weeks though, I’m sure, if it didn’t mess with the pacing and the plot.

Agreed, although that’s not a high bar.

Encounter at Farpoint is okaaay, but its pretty slow development, featuring a high-octane saucer uncoupling as “what makes this series different”, a sequence they then reused every episode afterwards just to be safe with all those civilian lives… oh wait. 🫢

Okay, fair point re juggling, a bad example on my part.

I guess it comes down to the realities of group composition and to what extent you moderate a game feature to keep everyone happy, and there's no right or wrong answer to that except maybe on a case by case basis.

I’m maybe only playing Jimbloos Juggling Adventure because the rest of my group thought it sounded great. I was unimpressed.

My character is awesome at juggling. Why can’t they do amazing feats of juggling without me that knows nothing about it contributing ideas from my void of experience?
