Just to be clear, I don’t think this guy or his Joss Whedon dialogue belongs anywhere near a Metroid game, either. It’s just the “thank God Samus doesn’t talk” that I thought was weird.

I do think people need to play the game before calling it ruined, but I think it’s fair to be concerned.

Beyond that, annoying characters are more tolerable when the other characters are allowed to be annoyed by them! Like Shrek and Donkey or Neal and Del or Jim and Dwight. If nobody ever acknowledges how annoying the character is you just end up with Jar Jar or Scrappy Doo or Omochao.

I think the way they do Link works. He’s not silent, he’s just not voiced. The player gets to answer as him and he gets to say some zingers in Skyward Sword or be deadpan Tony Hawk when no one recognizes him in TotK.

My point was just, fuck, it’s been 15 years and people still aren’t over Other M.

they put it in the series description back when it first got added to Netflix and I think that was the joke then- that it never even appeared in the show itself when it was on TV but they're just jumpscaring you with it on streaming before you can even watch a cold open

Pokopia looks extremely my shit. I don’t have the absolute vitriol for game key cards that most people do, I just think they’re annoying. Surely the literal most lucrative multimedia franchise in the world can afford not to cut every corner possible. But I guess that’s not how you get to be #1.

I really enjoyed the previous Mario movie, for what it was. Which was not a GOOD movie, but it was colorful and fun.

And yeah, I do usually demand more from animated films, but I don’t demand more from Mario games, so. I thought it fulfilled the brief

I like Bowser best when he’s a little lame. He keeps a diary in Paper Mario, writes haiku and cries in RPG, can’t help but compliment Mario’s dress in Odyssey, and does nothing but sit in a hot tub in Sunshine. I thought (privately) writing a terrible corny love ballad worked for the character

I love Brie Larson and her being in it at all is going to make the worst people mad for no good reason so I’m all for it

Bowser Jr. is. okay. I need to hear more. I honestly thought he was also Jack Black with his voice pitched up hearing his first few lines
