Flight willing, I’ll be getting to Seattle tomorrow night for #2025APPAM! Very much looking forward to seeing friends and spending time with those who care about making policy, and the world, work better.

Here’s where you’ll find me discussing, chairing, and presenting on Thursday and Friday 👇

Just discovered that my local food pantry participates in Kroger’s community rewards program. Took me 1 minute to add them as my chosen recipient so that they can get a % of everything I spend on groceries.

It’s a little thing, but every bit counts for these orgs right now.

On a lighter note… it’s National Gymnastics Day!

Can’t think of anything that prepared me better for an academic career than 20ish years in a judged sport where you constantly get told you could do better 🤪

Our choice experiment results reveal that both liberal- and conservative-identifying students are willing to pay more to attend a college with more students of the same political leaning (up to $1,162/year) and, especially, fewer students of the opposite leaning (up to $2,617/year).

We tackle this question in two ways.

First, we analyze four decades of the HERI Freshman Survey to track the political views of incoming college students, over time and across colleges, and show that colleges have become increasingly polarized in terms of their students' political views.
