Congratulations to everyone involved with the relighting of the neon sign at Road Runner's Retreat in Chambless, California! The business is long gone but this desert icon will remind Route 66 travelers of the area's history.

In 1958, teacher Clara Luper led a sit-in at the Katz Drug Store in downtown Oklahoma City. Now a bronze monument stands where that drugstore was.

One of the seats at the counter is empty, inviting people to join in and reflect on the courage and determination it took to stand up by sitting down.

The @oklahomaroute66.com Association had a great time out at the Will Rogers Days Parade in Claremore! We had cars representing every decade between Route 66's creation in 1926 to today.

Great job, Afton! Local artist Jessica Stout created this vibrant mural featuring the town's history. I wore my DX jacket in honor of my late friend Laurel Kane; she inspired me to get more involved a decade ago now. The town came together to raise funds to make this artwork a reality. #Route66

Yesterday was a Route 66 day! Attended the opening of The Caldwell Collection at Mustang Field vintage aircraft museum in El Reno (paired with a great burger at Jobe's), checked in at Yukon's Czech festival, then visited with John Hargrove in Arcadia, Oklahoma. The road is never boring!

The iconic Chrysler Plymouth sign in Bristow, Oklahoma - dark for more than 50 years - is coming down for a full restoration. I'll be rebuilt in a new plaza right on Route 66 for the Centennial!

Back home after a wonderful time at #PastForward25! I spent time with colleagues from @savingplaces.bsky.social, made new friends across the preservation spectrum, and enjoyed the heck out of Milwaukee. Oh, and #FlatWill got to visit the start of Route 66 in Chicago!
