Department of Physics & Astronomy at Uppsala University. Theoretical modelling of nano-bio systems and of amorphous materials.
Just learned from Cees Dekker's post that he is being honored with the 2026 Biochemical Society Award for Significant Breakthrough or Achievement! Very happy for him and BIG CONGRATULATIONS! :-) He continually inspires the nanopore community with the amazing achievements from his team at Delft.
Wow, I feel greatly honored by being awarded the 2026 Biochemical Society Award for Significant Breakthrough or Achievement, as was just announced!

It is wonderful that the Biochemical Society honors our contributions to single-molecule biophysics in this way!
The 2026 Biochemical Society Award for Significant Breakthrough or Achievement is presented to Cees Dekker @ceesdekker.bsky.social! Celebrating his ground-breaking contributions to nanotechnology, Cees has pioneered research on solid-state nanopores and nanopore-based DNA sequencing.
