It may be somewhat discipline dependent, but in medicine I find the error rate alarmingly high, and often its errors are subtle enough that it’s challenging to pick up if you don’t know the topic well.

I tend to think it’s a particularly volatile combination of capitalism, fervent belief, expectation of impunity, and cultural deference they get paid.
