I think this EF-5 upgrade marks an important shift towards long term *accuracy* over maintaining status quo. One brave WFO kicked down a door that others have been hesitant (and perhaps pressured) to not open, giving other offices the latitude to revisit and revise prior events.

Well even though PSU football is a perennial disappointment, my gameday goodies weren't 🏈chicken bacon ranch dip, PSU old fashioned's with PA rye, and a whiteout vanilla creme cake (Side Note: who's down to go in on Franklin's buyout? 😅 💰)

Just as with the assassination of state representative Melissa Hortman earlier this summer, the horrific violence carried out today is a vile display of hate which goes against our country's fundamental principles. This is *not* a partisan matter - when free speech is met with violence, we all lose.

Well, the cat is out of the bag - I'm beyond honored to receive an AMS Editor's Award from MWR/WAF! I take peer review very seriously, especially for student authors, so it is immensely gratifying to be recognized for the time and thought that I pour into the review process ✍️
Earlier this week I entered a chocolate cherry cake at our local Elizabethtown fair - it didn't end up placing, but I still thought it was too pretty not to share! 🍫🍒

Gotta brag on Kayla Wheeler (OU SoM PhD candidate), as her work on extratropical transition (ET) & tropical cyclone tornadoes has hit EOR. In addition to changes in tornado location & diurnal cycle , environments undergoing ET have slower decreases in... (1/2)

One of the biggest takeaways from the joint session at the recent AMS Meso/Broadcast meeting was that our community *doesn't do enough to amplify forecast successes*! Our forecast ability - while not perfect - has become the expectation, such that the public only notices when things break or fail.

Teamwork makes the dream work! Conversations between researchers and broadcasters are *critical* to ensure that the newest science is disseminated to the public in a way that is engaging and spurs folks to action! Hope this synergy only grows and deepens with time 🙌

Many of us (myself included) often keep our eyes down, overwhelmed by huge stones placed ahead of us - grief, loss, etc. But like the women walking to His tomb on the 3rd day, if we would just look up, we'd see that those stones have all been rolled away 🙌
