Can feel winter coming along. On the Centennial Trail at Plante’s Crossing on a fine October afternoon. The Spokane river runs steady and true through here, and this place a crossing for many years.

Quite the development on the north shore of the Spokane River. Someone ought to build something like this down the block and across Monroe street in the Yards overlooking the bridge.

On the Centennial Trail on an October afternoon, Spokane, below Gonzaga University. Those specks in the image are the dreaded aphids hatch. I’ve already gone through a swarm as thick as two and a half inch unwashed gravel on a Spokane County road.

Got to say navigating east to west on Sharp at Hamilton, and at this round-about on Cincinnati Street is wild this time of day. Bicycles, electric bikes, long city buses, pedestrians, mixed with cars trying to beat the yellow light. Lots of cars on the road and it ain’t even five o’clock yet.

Famous boulders, the Spokane River, Felts airfield across the river. An October afternoon on the Centennial Trail.

High school football on a cool Friday night at the Stadium. I am at the nexus of the Podium, and the Arena on the bustling North shore of the Spokane river. Busy night. Rogers verses West Valley.

New skyline view, with sunset. From the north Washington Street Bridge, crossing over to the Stadium. Busy tonight on Riverside Avenue. Spokane downtown on a Friday evening.

On the other end of the Centennial Trail at the Seven Mile bridge on a pleasant and slightly warm September Sunday afternoon. This ought to brighten up with some colors soon.

A September afternoon at Plante’s Crossing, along the Centennial Trail, the Spokane river meandering through a clutch of basalt. A bunch of smoke blowing through right now. Might be the final warm day for the rest of the year. Maybe.

Haven’t seen fighter jets overhead in the metropolis in a while. Image is the Spokane skyline this September Saturday afternoon riding the Centennial Trail.

A tour de sports at schools in September afternoons in Spokane. This is the field at Shadle Park High School. They are holding practice at Rogers High School, and at Gonzaga Prep. Wind it up down at the The Stadium. KXLY needs to put a pub in on their roof looking over The Stadium’s fence.

The Centennial Trail on a hot Labor Day weekend, the Spokane river, Mission Street bridge, and the spire of St. John’s cathedral. Smokey autumn sort of vibe today.

Water turned back on past the railroad bridges on the Spokane river.

The ghost river of August. Along the Centennial Trail and the Spokane river of glacial rocks. If you have lost anything in the river now is a good time to find them. Ahh the dog days of summer in the Spokane valley.

An August afternoon along the Centennial Trail looking to the southeast Quartz Peak on the left, Mica Peak on the right, and Felts Air Field on the south bank of the Spokane river.

This specimen of architecture in the Spokane valley, not far from the Centennial Trail on a fine Saturday afternoon in July. I call it The Monument to Who Is Next.

Wildfire crew with a fire smoldering on the banks of the Spokane river Tuesday afternoon in July. A hot day for this. Seen from the Centennial Trail looking west below Spokane Falls Community College.

Spokane river making a turn below Latah creek, Browne’s bluff, and in the foreground this season’s second crop of trail side grass gone to seed, gone to straw, in the middle of June, the day after No Kings day. A warm Sunday afternoon along the Centennial Trail.

Got to hand it to the Palisades Park project people. They are opening some nice vista.

I call this pine lean-to, for obvious reason. Along a Centennial Trail spur up to the military cemetery. Just under Spokane Falls Community College. Nice day. I’m doing my tour de Memorial Day.

Boulder Beach, a popular swimming beach on the Spokane river along the Centennial Trail. A Warm Sunday afternoon. 80 degrees works like an on switch for people in the waters. Lots of paddle boards, tourists running the rapids below Peaceful Valley, that sort of thing.
May 25, 2025 at 11:16 PM
A hatch along the Spokane river at Plante’s Crossing, big ones, redside food. Haven’t seen any trout feeding yet, water still full in the river, cloudy and green in a rush. Middle of May on a Saturday afternoon along the Centennial Trail.
May 17, 2025 at 9:08 PM
Spokane river running full along the Centennial Trail, weather warm, some localized harmony attending. Grasses have gone to seed and it is only the first week of May. The trail heading west, homeward this afternoon, in the sunlight.

I ain’t going north from here that’s for sure. Looks like storm over the Reservation, William’s valley, heading for Loon Lake and Deer Park. From Spokane’s Centennial Trail on a Sunday afternoon in April.

Got hit by a driver on Third avenue as I was nearly across. Tacoed my wheel. Roger at Shacktown on Second is getting me fixed up. I’m fine.
