Regarded by many in Taiwan as a ruthless dictator, Chiang Kai-shek is worshipped at Kaohsiung's 蔣公報恩觀 temple, founded by the local community of residents evacuated to Taiwan by Chiang's troops from Dachen Island. Originally an air-raid shelter, it was used as a mourning hall after CKS's death.
