I, too, was a high school teacher & I know this line well. At the same time, having been deeply fucked up by being home-schooled by homophobic right-wing extremists, I can never shake the feeling that maybe, developmentally, it *is* really necessary & appropriate for them to be touching each other.

Of course, from a Jewish perspective, there is no such transformation or "fulfillment" of the Law as Christians understand. My question was simply about whether Florence's take might usefully inform interpretation of Paul, where Christian understandings of the Messianic Age would apply instead.

I just realized... Would your theory mean that Paul's apparent reference to homosexuality in Rom. 1:26-27 (in a recounting of past transgressions that raised God's ire) could be read as something that was an averah at the time but isn't necessarily so in the Messianic age (akin to kosher violation)?
