April is wrapping up and, yeah it's been a rollercoaster. I got accepted into a prestigious public uni, but had to give up my spot due to circumstances beyond my control, shot my shot with someone–got rejected. As if that weren't enough, dealt with family issues involving illness.

It boggles me how so many people don't realize that so much of what we get into as occultists is only possible due to the work of academics and researchers, not just for source material availability but the very models that underlie all the hot takes of folks who bias themselves against "academia".

in the medieval islamicate context, in order to be called a Master astrologer you were suppose to show mastery over the solar return to a teacher. They are so involved and complex that if you could show that you could perform one properly that elevated you past the rank of student.

tbh solar returns have only recently begun to be properly revived in the west. most of the old heads teach+follow Morin who basically stipped solar returns down so bare bones it's kinda nothing substantial.
