Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend.

Inside a dog it's too dark to read.

The elite world Epstein traveled in is VERY small: Yale Law prof Jed Rubenfeld's wife Amy Chua, also a Yale Law prof, was the mentor of Yale Law student JD Vance. Ken Starr was the mentor of Yale Law grad Brett Kavanaugh, also accused of sexual assault but now seated on the Supreme Court. 2/

It reminds me of this quote from the person who called every single person in Maxwell’s black book: www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

That Times reporters would protect Trump and all the others involved does not surprise me, it confirms that there are those who will betray fundamental ethical and moral guidelines for proximity to power.

There are reporters who likely would have come forward if they had known, but there are a whole hell of a lot who chose not to and lied. And there are still others who, in the midst of the Beach story, sided with the players and mgmt who helped cover it up, protected the abuser, even rewarded him.

When SA in hockey is reported it is typically by reporters not associated with covering the teams and players.

It was the Beach situation that pushed me away from following hockey and the cases that came to light shortly thereafter - Evander Kane, Jake Virtanen - accelerated that decision.

But this? Nothing.

So they said "we'll do better, we promise, we won't let this happen again."

Anyone familiar with Hockey Canada knows that promise was bullshit, too.

The reporters would have heard the jokes, the whispers, etc.

They knew.

They didn't report on it. A player could change the length of his stick by two inches and they'll track down the person who told him to do it and find the factory that makes it.

The team was lousy with reporters, and NHL reporting is all about being close to the team and getting the gossip.

So they knew.

The players on the ice teased Beach about it after he complained to the coaches. There were discussions about what to do involving ownership, management and coaches.

Most applauded Beach's courage but questions came up bc this happened with the full knowledge of management, coaches and players on the Chicago team at a time when they were the darlings of the league, winning Stanley Cups and getting regular New Year's Day outdoor prestige games from the NHL.

When Kyle Beach (Chicago) came forward through TSN reporter Rick Westhead and described the years of sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of a coach the hockey community reacted with shock.
