I loved this when I first heard this in 1980. They started as a band with instruments and then got bored of playing, in favour of something more interesting youtu.be/ZWGAlNXJTJE?...

I’ve replaced Paul Gadd with Marty Wilde’s 70s alias Zappo. More fun, better songs and father of Kim. Rock and Roll Crazy is fabulously silly and has that Glam “swatting a fly” drum beat.

I wonder what would have followed “not”.

“Not when you have “Frother of the Year”, twice running on the case”

“Not when you have the latest Foe-mo-matic Foaming Machine!”

Telepathy. They both envisioned the blue triangle

Are there any boxes of loose leaf or bags in any photo. I imagine it was loose leaf with strainer. But what was the Beatle brand?

Great question. I’ll nominate Brooke Bond

Not a genre, but if I could only listen to music from 1967, I’d be very happy.

Your work enriches my day every day, especially when viewed with a cuppa tea in my hand. Hope that’s not too strong, but it is that time of year

One of our finest. Greyhound bus is another goodie, and what better instructor could anyone have in 1973?

The dates don’t match up but this could be the timpani overdub for Golden Slumbers, end of July 1969. Ringo and Mo looking particularly fabulous that day

Beautiful article and photos. I’m off to read it again, this time sitting down with a mince pie

People even thought that in 1974. Not exactly Sabbath.

The Top Cat theme sung with straight triads wouldn’t sound the same. They always had someone to do the ginchy notes. I have no idea what the proper name for it is but it sure must’ve been tricky
December 18, 2025 at 3:33 PM
Great exercise. Also in the 40s and 50s there was often a singer who had to add the ginchy harmony, the 6th and 7th notes. This is a musical ear twister youtu.be/ov_AlD6xCeM?...

We need a genuine Scot, as I’m only one eighth. “Baw bag” is a goodie - Scottish insults are poetry, as are Geordie ones

The knobhead’s got a face like bag of spanners, and his squinty eyes - if I had a pound for every time they looked at me I’d have 50p

So true. and of the subsequent clones: a cod Mariah melismatically screeching festive inanities over a yet another cod-Phil Spector cod-Motown, heavily quantised backing track, devoid of any human touch.
