Fantastic mood piece epitomised by the great ED song. Gisaburo Sugi is very skilled and uses strong colour and art direction here to create a great tone despite lots of repeated scenes in a clearly very limited production. Anime often struggles at horror but it can thrive on mood

It has an undoubtedly rough production, plus some character actions really pissed me off, but this show had so much damn soul. Heck, Obayashi took photos himself for the backgrounds I believe. Lovely show.

I just realised this is my second Kazuki Akane show here. Oops. Nevertheless, this show, while narratively and character-wise nothing incredible, is great, with impressive digital webgen animation experimentation. Introduced me to the animator Tomoyuki Niho, lots of Norio cuts, etc

It may have plenty of things I can fault, but Doukyuusei is an aesthetically gorgeous film with distinct designs from Akemi Hayashi marrying perfectly with Shouko Nakamura's evocative direction and panelling and Chieko Nakamura's art direction. Shouko Nakamura deserves more projects!

A very aesthetic show, and a lot of fun. Doesn't take itself too seriously and succeeds because of it. Kanuka is also a very charismatic character. Finally, this was a very fun groupwatch in @znotetaku.bsky.social's discord server.

A pretty great show with one of my absolute favourite OPs as well as one of my favourite EDs. Epitomises what moe spice of life can achieve in terms of vibes. Contains not only the emotions of community and graduation but also post graduation.

Some seasons verge on being favourites but it doesn't quite make it as a whole. Nevertheless Haikyuu is a lot of fun, tense, and genuinely well written with its characters. Made me play volleyball, and volleyball is fun!

An aesthetic show with a great soundtrack and creative direction courtesy of Kazuki Akane. This show needs appreciation as while it has faults it was cruelly cut in half by the studio late into production. Also enby rep!

Has definite issues and is in need of a second season but it has a real heart and I loved it. I watched it on a whim mainly because I'd watched and adored the ED and I was really taken in by it and binged it. Also the Takahiro Kishida character designs rock.

A 3x3 of anime I'm thankful for (NOT my favourites, but they are all great or really great).
Thanks @znotetaku.bsky.social for the tag.
Might make a thread below explaining the choices later, we'll see.

The Golden Bird, Bobby's Girl, Little Twins (or what is available of it that I've seen), and Little Love Story: Chitchi and Sally, The Four Seasons of First Love are all masterpieces.

A powerful portrait of different generations stifled in their own ways. Stifled by authoritarianism and then stifled by a strive for individual expression at the expense of community under capitalism. Resistance to change and wrong change. Left behind, yet they still live.
