My copy of Houses Of The Holy isn’t perfect, but a it’s a hell of a lot better after a deep clean. First UK pressing from 1973. #vinyl #xp #LedZeppelin

Described by some as ‘one of the last great prog albums from the 70s’. The Roaring Silence covers Springsteen’s Blinded By The Light as its opener, although Waiter, There's a Yawn in My Ear is much more to my taste. #vinyl #MMEB #xp #prog

It’s the Led Zepp collection’s turn for the bath. Starting with this one from 1976 which I ignore way too often. It’s a good album, just not as good as the others. I will play it more. #xp #vinyl #LedZeppelin

Been cleaning and progging it right up all day. This is Man with Rhinos, Winos & Lunatics from 1974 which gets a solid 3.8 over on Progarchives. #vinyl #man #xp #progressive

Found a couple more #UriahHeep records in the prog rock shelf to clean and play. Will start with Abominog from 1982 as the cover is so cool! #vinyl #xp #progressive

A huge bonus of this cleaning marathon is it has reminded me of records I’d forgotten I had. This is an extraordinary record for 1969, Can’s debut and (arguably) the birth of Krautrock. #vinyl #can #krautrock #xp #progressive

Enjoyed that more than I thought I would. Lots of cowbells. I approve.

Continuing with Wonderworld from 1974 - a lot dirtier this one so fingers crossed it cleans up ok. #UriahHeep #vinyl #xp #prog

Bit of heavy prog (not that heavy really) this morning. I’ve had a couple of Uriah Heep albums in the collection for years but still not entirely sure if I like them. Cleaned them anyway…. #vinyl #prog #xp #UriahHeep

The Who shelf is next to the Mod Revival shelf so we’re on to the big boys now. This is maybe the one record I’d take to that desert island everybody talks about…. #TheWho #xp #HumminGuru #vinyl

I have no idea why somebody was selling this, brand new, for £1 on eBay. I just bought it unheard, but have to say it’s pretty good. #vinyl #TheMalpractice #xp

Last one for today to give the ultrasonic cleaner a rest. The Killermeters started out in 1977 as a punk band but moved quickly on to playing for the mod scene in ‘78. Songs like SX 225 became mod/scooter rally classics. #vinyl #xp #TheKillermeters

Things were moving on in the mid 90s and the new mod interest inspired by Blur and britpop was very different. The Itch had other ideas though. This album emulates the sound of ‘79 and does a pretty good job of it. #vinyl #TheItch #xp

Nine Below Zero from 1981. One of the mod revival bands from the time that had longevity and reinvented themselves as a blues/rock band. This, however, is pure mod with some classics like ‘One Way Street’. #vinyl #NineBelowZero #xp

My original copy from 1982 and it’s a little tired, but plays very well. One day I’ll seek out a better copy. Never been reissued, it’s probably my favourite Secret Affair LP. #vinyl #SecretAffair #xp

This one is from 1982 and it’s the official fan club album from Squire. I was so envious of my wealthier friend who owned this back then, but I had to wait until 2015 when it was reissued in this limited edition of 500. I snapped one up! #vinyl #NowPlaying #xp

Continuing the cleaning/playing…. This is 1985’s Wild Child from The Untouchables, on Stiff Records. Self proclaimed as ‘America’s first ska band’. They called themselves ‘mods who played ska’. This LP arrived a little too late to have any real impact on the UK mod revival scene. Good

Last one for now. Cleaning my mod revival collection (in case you didn’t realise) and this is one of my all time favourites. Mick Talbot’s first band. Just fantastic tunes for the era. We loved it. #MertonParkas #vinyl #ModRevival #xp

Continuing the theme from yesterday, another mod revival (or mod revival adjacent) compilation. This time from Elton John’s Rocket Record Company. The first outing on vinyl for The Lambrettas. #NowPlaying #Vinyl #xp

I’ve got volumes 3 and 4 of Le Beat Bespoké, obscure, overlooked 60s dance tracks compiled by Rob Bailey of The New Untouchables. Gotta get them all! Le Beat is an annual event still going strong with the next festival Easter, 2026. #vinyl #LeBeatBespoke #xp

Another compilation, this one from Safari Records. A repress from 1981 and the much better version including three tracks from Purple Hearts missing from the 1980 original.

Giving this a play after cleaning. It’s a great compilation of bands who have played in the 101 Club in South London in the 70s and 80s. My copy appears to have belonged to University Radio Bath at some stage. #vinyl #101Club #xp
