Gonna finish the write up on shotquality model v2 soon. This version goes back to the 96-97 season, and should be more comprehensive. Here are the top guys from that season

Here are the east teams.

Inspired by @iztokfranko.bsky.social latest post, wanted to see how the western conference teams looked broken down using the clusters from nbavisuals.com/player_style
Cluster names still need some work.

The draft cycle continues. Very early look at my board for 2026. Should be a fun class

Built like a tank at 6'1.5", but plays much bigger. Not a PG, not a wing, but just finds ways to impact the game. If the shot stays stable, he’s got enough juice off the catch or bounce to stick. If I had an open two-way spot, this might be my first call.

Also showed real craft as a driver and finisher: 57.8% at the rim, despite not being a top-tier athlete. 4.0 AST to 1.7 TOV. He’s not flashy, but he’s productive, tough, and knows how to fit in. If you're betting on skill + IQ, Shulga makes a lot of sense in the 2nd.

May not be a high-level on-ball creator, but he processes quickly, makes smart passes, cuts well, and finishes plays. Feels like a two-way bet who could sneak into a rotation early if the shot stays reliable and the defense travels.

Tough, smart, never in a rush. Great in ball screens and can punish teams with pull-ups or floaters when needed. Not a high-ceiling swing, but for teams that need someone to organize offense and make decisions on day one, he’s worth a serious look.

Not much of a roller, shooter, or vertical athlete; but knows how to use his size, passes well, and plays a conservative drop that still gets results. 2.1 BPG in the SEC. A two-way bet for a team that believes in reshaping his frame and leaning into his vision.

Ryan Kalkbrenner
If you’re a contender hunting for a backup 5 who can contribute right away, Kalkbrenner should be on your board. Elite rim protector, anchors a defense, finishes everything at the rim, knows his role. Just plug him into a drop-heavy scheme and go.

Now look at Haliburton. His group is Fred VanVleet, Tyus Jones, Mike Conley. Not downhill wreckers: instead guys who probe, manage, deliver. They keep the advantage chain going.

Here’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The comps check out: Harden, Luka, LeBron, Tatum. All guys who collapse the defense, then pass or score.

@iztokfranko.bsky.social think I found the funniest group of player comps for a player so far. Any guesses on what’s being captured

It is kind of fun that two of the closest comps are his previous pick and roll partners: Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II

Like you said, the comp for SGA in many ways is Giannis

While I agree the Lakers are probably a first-round exit, how much of this on-off impact is due to shooting luck? In a lot of LeBron-on lineups, opponents are shooting very well from 3, while the Lakers aren't hitting theirs. On the other hand, many LeBron-off lineups have the opposite effect.
