President Zelenskyy,

The vast majority of Americans are fully sickened to our core by the violence visited upon you every day, with help from our President and his party.

In 2004, I interviewed for a teaching position. The principal asked me how many kids I had. I answered. He asked if I was planning to have more —said he couldn’t afford to have another teacher out on maternity leave.

This is why women need protections, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Something that a lot of people don’t seem to understand is that women deserve respect period. Stay at home moms. Strippers. Corporate women. Sex workers. Students. Women without kids. Women who are divorced. Women in hijabs. Women in short skirts. Women who say no. Women. Period.

So gratifying to see, at long last, the great voting rights activist & legend Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer recognized with a presidential Medal of Freedom. A true champion of democracy, and personal hero.

I think journalists, policymakers and good govt types are struggling to understand DOGE because their mental model is that it is a government reform commission, operating like previous ones. Maybe. But it might be better to start thinking about it as a hostile takeover of the govt by oligarchs.

a remarkable woman whose work is still vital. we named our daughter after her.
Formerly enslaved, Anna Julia Cooper earned an MA in math in 1887 & a PhD. Educator, leader, democracy activist, her 1892 book championed women's rights. “The cause of freedom is not the cause of a race or a sect, a party or a class - it is the cause of human kind, the very birthright of humanity.”
