Delighted to have been in St Michael’s Blackrock this morning for their 8.30 Patronal H.C. , great to have these early services available for my “away” Sundays. The rector pointed out the light remnant of Incense from the Orthodox Church that uses the place.

I live next to some sheep, they come and go depending on season etc, with the latest batch every time I return home and get out of my car to open the gates they run over, probably expecting food. I always feel so sorry for them, I have nothing to give them. A “Feed my sheep” reminder.

The old railway line between Youghal and Midleton has been turned into a footpath/cyclepath, some holes have been dug to the side of it. I noticed some black layers in these. Oil, Soot, Cinders perhaps? Oddly there seems to be two layers of black, Did the line cease operating for a number of years?

Back in June I cleared some of the garden, A young pear tree had to go. It never bore, and this was the first year I had seen its blossom. I felt bad killing it so I had a go at replanting it in a temporary bed until I have a place for it. I was worried I killed it. Today I noticed new growth.

Evening Prayer from Drombeg Stone Circle. I’m a big fan of the collects, but this business about grafting and hearts… The heart is not the place to do grafting, the fragile, thin, and easily damaged cambium is what you want. The layer that nourishes.

My old oscilloscope was brought to the recycling centre this morning. I never really used it for anything g more than a voltmeter, except maybe when looking at the output my turntable.

I recently bought a 2nd BCP in case someone should ever wish to pray the office with me. I ought to have done it years ago. Luxury untold. I might get a third for the psalms!

Collar washing, They get particularly grubby in this weather. We have loads of hot water though due to the solar. Nature finds a way!

Nice to be working from home of late without the demands of the school bell. A slow breakfast on the patio. I’m sure that like a quad in a college, the school bell is a cultural artefact from a time when all schools were monastic. #MarkingSeason

We had a fence come down last night in the storm. Terribly worried that sheep would get in or the Westies out. A quick fix called for, a lasting solution will be found over Christmas Holidays. Scout Skills = Life Skills

Managed to get two stars today. I'm really enjoying this #adventOfCode , I had kind of forgotten what it was like to press run, no errors, and then out jumps an answer. These are by no means easy for me, but thus far have been pitched right in my zone of proximal development.

Just out of the Mercy A&E. 0330hrs. Sent in by South Doc.While I was sitting waiting the issue healed itself. My head had turned purple (a la Violet from Willy Wonka) and the left side of my face was in severe pain.Apparently everything is fine! I get to experience the lights with no one else around
