Delighted to have been in St Michael’s Blackrock this morning for their 8.30 Patronal H.C. , great to have these early services available for my “away” Sundays. The rector pointed out the light remnant of Incense from the Orthodox Church that uses the place.

We are doing Algebraic Fractions at the moment in 5th Year. Today I wrote “Our’s is not to reason why, just invert and multiply” on the board. Delighted that an S requested some proof of this. The plan sort of fell into place. #MathsToday

So how are we pronouncing it? F for Filip, or φ for File? I once witnessed a reader being lightly chastised during the sermon for getting it wrong. The priest knew what he was doing, both men laughed. A risky business that paid off. The lack of a private education was found to be the root cause.

Goodness me, The School has changed over to “Word for the Web”, rather than good old fashioned 1’s and 0’s on the machine itself. So many features missing that I really want. I do love a printed address label.

2100hrs here, farmers have just begun harvesting the big fields behind us. It never ceases to amaze me how much beyond a job farming is. Goes beyond a livelihood to being their life.

A Lord Lambourne on the ground, probably about a week too early, but I’ll give it a go.

First day of New Term. Eeek, only 50% of my Jobs that I had lined up completed over the summer. Is this the mark of a good summer? Perhaps.

I live next to some sheep, they come and go depending on season etc, with the latest batch every time I return home and get out of my car to open the gates they run over, probably expecting food. I always feel so sorry for them, I have nothing to give them. A “Feed my sheep” reminder.

The old railway line between Youghal and Midleton has been turned into a footpath/cyclepath, some holes have been dug to the side of it. I noticed some black layers in these. Oil, Soot, Cinders perhaps? Oddly there seems to be two layers of black, Did the line cease operating for a number of years?

Back in June I cleared some of the garden, A young pear tree had to go. It never bore, and this was the first year I had seen its blossom. I felt bad killing it so I had a go at replanting it in a temporary bed until I have a place for it. I was worried I killed it. Today I noticed new growth.

Evening Prayer from Drombeg Stone Circle. I’m a big fan of the collects, but this business about grafting and hearts… The heart is not the place to do grafting, the fragile, thin, and easily damaged cambium is what you want. The layer that nourishes.

My old oscilloscope was brought to the recycling centre this morning. I never really used it for anything g more than a voltmeter, except maybe when looking at the output my turntable.

I recently bought a 2nd BCP in case someone should ever wish to pray the office with me. I ought to have done it years ago. Luxury untold. I might get a third for the psalms!

2 Morning Prayers and an Holy Communion tomorrow morning. I do hope I can get out. A motor rally is taking place and the residents out here are being locked in for the day. I certainly won’t be able to get back after church, so I shall be pottering about for the afternoon until the evening.

biscuits with tea today, the proceeds of last nights dinner party. Baked to go with the lemoncello sorbet, the end of which was this morning’s breakfast because freezer space was needed.
