They may have decided to just "govern" as if they're not in an minority. The party would would benefit most from an election is the Liberals.

They're betting on the Cons balking on forcing another election, while targeting the Cons voter base to throw them in an even bigger poll lead.
The other parties are basically irrelevant, and desperately want to avoid an election as well.

I may bring a fraction of those units onto the rental market, but more stock doesn't mean lower prices when it comes to housing. It simply doesnt.

The claim is that these people need to be enticed to bring these vacant units onto the rental "market" by offering a new loophole to be able to raise rents and make more money, which will increase supply and therefore lower rents- but this claim is bogus.

It's that housing is being used as an investment vehicle, instead of a place to live.
These vacant units are owned by people who own multiple properties, or by developers who haven't sold them.

It is true that there are many thousands of vacant units, but the wording is misleading and they're talking about 2 things as if they're the same.
