Plover Pastor
@revbirder.bsky.social
Birds and theology, sometimes at the same time. Sometimes I pretend to be a Piping Plover.
Well the main thing is that I have participated in this cultural moment, and now I can go home and hide under a pile of blankets and probably the sky will put on an amazing show just when I finally get warm.

I think I saw a satellite, but it was probably just a really high up airplane that I couldn't see flickering, but I'm pretty sure it was a satellite. Let me have this.

I have now showed your map to several people. 😅

Yeah it's really rather pretty but also entirely disappointing.

It's quite possibly a very pretty shot of a very bright greenhouse in Canada. Somebody should tell them to turn the light off!

Local consensus is greenhouses ✨in Canada ✨. We probably had it coming.

It's also conceivable that the apocalyptically bright greenhouse grow lights have developed sentience, escaped from captivity, and have started swimming around out there.

Or maybe Canada is messing with us. I would not blame them. 🤷

I guess that pink spot has to be northern lights, unless either the sun has moved or else one of Lake Erie's islands has come untethered and is floating around out there. I'm going with northern lights, not so much because it seems the most likely, as because it is the least apocalyptic.

There are some people out here walking their dogs, looking at rocks, and fishing. That's how exciting it is. Who says that we don't have shared communal experiences anymore?

Reasonable. Research suggests that the more people understand the technology, the less they trust it.

Why would I trust a presentation from someone who is using technology they either don't understand or don't trust?

I wonder if this is connected to the research which suggests that the more people know about this technology, the less they trust it.

So, would meeting in the middle mean hating only 25% of America, or would it mean just *strongly disliking* half of America? 🙄

After this year, a lot of congregations are going to start having a policy where the official prayer list is only for people you know personally.

I've had people get angry at me for just pointing out that people get angry about masks!

Oh look, it's the church!

Do you have any milkweeds? Sundew? (Might be too tiny at this scale? ) Prickly pear?

They are happily making their weird little noises causing me to go "what's that weird little noise?" Like I do every year.

(It cannot be that hard to do, I did not have any experience and was making it up as I went along.)
