Dem leadership: changing this is a difficult process, you fool. You rube. You utter infant. Give us between $5 and $50

Mamdani, wiping grease off his hands: So it turns out there's a switch on this machine that puts it into either orphan-shredding mode or free school lunch mode. Just had to flip it

And last, just a note on responsibility: it may seem that based on the structure of the project, producers are carrying out the will of leadership or directors first and foremost. But the reality is that a producer is beholden to their team first and should advocate for them upwards.

But very often, process adherence demands things like that, and limiting the *amount* of disruption it causes is a huge part of a producer’s job. Which means understanding the ways people work. A combat designer does not work the same way a tech artist does, or have the same support needs.

If you’re an artist, ever just track your time spent on each step? No? Because it sucks, and I would think it’s antithetical to the average artist’s mentality when creating something meaningful.

But you are absolutely guiding your team and teaching a set of skills that does not come naturally to anyone - process adherence. That is, the art of working together toward a shared vision using the tools at your disposal. The trick is to do this while not impeding anyone’s work.

It’s true that every discipline has their own managers and leads, and their interest is in focusing on the ICs and leveling them up in their respective fields. This is not what a producer should be doing, regardless of whether they have some sort of secondary expertise in Art, Design etc.

Production is about setting the stage, not being in the spotlight. An interest in being a producer is essentially an interest in the existing team (or anyone you bring in, if you can do that) doing their best.

A very similar incompatibility with AMD drivers is what finally drove me back to Windows - but I will absolutely be back to Bazzite once support re: HDMI features matures.
