Sooooo... how long until they rename Windows 'CopilotOS' is the only thing I wonder at this point.

The cheese is technically parmesean, it just looks like cheddar because it came out of a Walmart jar. I usually just use it in sauces but I was out of shakey cheese 😆

This whole time, across multiple operating systems, the issue seems to have been using the HDMI port for the television. Switching to Display Port fixes it. I don't know if that's an Nvidia issue, a Samsung issue, or an HDMI issue, but it definitely means a linux Steam installation is back in play.

If what is left of the current Maduro regime wishes to stay in power, they could appease the Trump regime by providing that protection. It is more likely that you are correct though. Our regime might call it a "peace keeping" force, if they care about optics, which seems unlikely at this time.

Het verbaast me niet meer dat de hele wereld mijn vaderland, de United States, haat.

"We" being US citizens, of which I am one, watching my country devolve further into capitalist fascism where I and up to 60% of the population struggle paycheck to paycheck in the "richest country in the world" while the political elite and 1% play war games and enrich themselves.

There will be no US boots on the ground, the ruthless tactics of Maduro's regime will probably continue, and US billionaires will get richer. The people of Venezuela will continue to be a victim of United States imperialism, and we will continue to flounder helplessly under the Trump regime.

I'm confident our administration has zero interest "ruling" Venezuela. The only thing it cares about is the oil. If what's left of the current Maduro regime simply surrenders the country's oil to Trump, they will get to rule with impunity, and Trump will continue to enrich himself and his family.

+1 for workspaces. Ignored them for the longest time, but started implementing them for OS troubleshooting. So much easier than managing sessions and profiles.

@thelongdark.bsky.social is the gold standard for survival games as far as I'm concerned. It's not like the normal survival game genre though. Much more focused on semi-realistic crafting, exploration, time and inventory management than "building stuff". I honestly haven't seen it's equal.

Climate over there suits them nicely I see.

Anyway, just some downtime musings.

I'm convinced it has to be something to do with using a Samsung hidpi HDMI connection, because so few are talking about my symptoms. Which makes me just want to give up and use W11 for Steam games and video streaming. That's all it's for after all. Why keep screwing around with it?

Considering other options now, but the nVidia driver thing is an issue. So far not one OS I've tried works on the HTPC with the closed drivers. Closest I've gotten is the open driver with Nobara.
January 2, 2026 at 8:09 PM
And thats with nouveau still. Then on my daily driver, with the nVidia open drivers, everything works fine except the system won't shut down all the way. The OS stops, the power light goes out, but the fans keep right on going. I don't know how to even troubleshoot that.

Wow, glad something seemed to reach her. I'll have to remember that.
