Guys as well even if you are an American citizen. They are taking phones at the boarder same with electronics. And they can legally hold you at the boarder if they want to. The Constitution doesn't apply until you ENTER the United States. Even for citizens. Just don't go.

As someone who used to work with transgenic mice doing Neuroendocrinology research on things like PCOS and precocious puberty in females until NIH budget cuts during the Great Recession defunded it, I can confidently report that the other reason they hate it is because they hate women. All women.
