Also heard a while ago (pre Labour) that one of the big industry funders of a non Tufton St think tank was getting frustrated with them focusing too much on planning reform.

What was most surprising was Labour going for it 110%. It had been very Tufton St led before then. Have come across interesting links between some of the people involved and those think tanks in my time.

It’s been happening for much of my career. Was once accused of over-complicating the debate in order to profit from it when trying to highlight the challenges different areas face.

And another planning app in Coventry where the owner of an existing student development is trying to get temporary permission to use the rooms as serviced apartments.

The Halifax house price index had to be updated in 2019 as it had become far too volatile. The underlying property attributes used in the hedonic regression (such as whether a property had central heating or not) hadn’t been updated since 1983.

Lots of time during the day when it's too hot to go outside so you spend your time playing Simcity and Civ 2.

Im against the idea that planning is the only problem and solution to the current issues in housing and, given many of the campaigners take that approach then I accept that I might come across as anti reform. But right now the focus on planning is leading to bad policy decisions.
