Valve already does this with Steam Deck. So I can easily see third party companies using Steam OS in the future instead of Windows.

A former Xbox executive has called on Valve to allow third-parties to use SteamOS to make their own Steam Machines, amid concern over the price of the next-gen living room PC. https://bit.ly/44ppQV3

Just played the Kirby Air Riders global test and I won an online City Trail match.

I have no idea what I did or what was going on and I won the whole thing including some drag race that happened after.

This doesn’t seem to be well designed. It’s a cluster of visuals with little direction.

Imagine the possibility of millions of people who own the same spec Steam Machine hardware. PC game devs could just tune their games to work for that platform while also giving you freedom to modify the settings.

Consoles would never let you do that.
Even with lower specs, the Steam Machine will be highly competitive against Microsoft's next console thanks to Valve's two unique advantages, says Rob Fahey: Steam itself, and the "unsung hero of PC gaming disruption", SteamOS.

Valve's dramatic return to hardware isn't just a blow to Microsoft and a challenge to Sony's dominance; it's the fruit of a decade of fastidious work

Gabe Newell to this day famously responds to e-mails from random fans.

I e-mailed him long ago about creating a video series for Steam. It would cover upcoming video games. He forwarded my message to some folks at Valve who gave it a shot. The preview I ended up creating didn’t work out.

Question for the room: Is around 150-160 million units sold the maximum amount a video game console can ever hope to sell?
November 8, 2025 at 5:17 PM
Right now on the Steam page for Battlestar Galactica Deadlock it would cost over $112 to get the game and it's whole collection before it goes away forever. When a publisher is about to delist a game permanently? They should be heavily discounting the price without question.

Stop sharing AI slop.

It's one thing if you don't know or just made a mistake. No need to breathe down someones neck b/c its harder to tell nowadays.

But if you do know (ESPECIALLY IF YOU DO KNOW) even if you're posting it to make fun of it or sharing it unironically... consider not doing that.
