Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke
@repyvetteclarke.bsky.social
Official account, U.S. Rep. Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09, Brooklyn). Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. Serving on the Energy and Commerce Committee. Brooklyn bred.
More than 20 million Americans are staring down the barrel of skyrocketing healthcare costs in the new year.

Instead of holding a vote to extend the ACA tax credits and stop this crisis in its tracks, Speaker Johnson chose to shut Congress down early and go home.

How cruel is that?

If Congress’ goal is truly to protect kids online, the best way to do so is through a federal data-privacy standard that prioritizes their safety today and can adapt to the technologies of tomorrow.

This version of KOSA doesn't come close to meeting the mark.

Heads up, Brooklynites! The deadline to apply for an internship in my District Office is a week away – make sure to get your application in by December 15th to be considered for these truly transformative positions.

Team Clarke looks forward to hearing from you!

On Trump’s orders, DHS has condemned countless of our migrant neighbors to horrific detention centers where they've suffered abuse, faced vile conditions, and even lost their lives.

I joined @jayapal.house.gov's shadow hearing yesterday, because these atrocities cannot remain hidden in the dark.

No matter how many masked thugs Donald Trump sics on our immigrant neighbors or how desperately he tries to dehumanize their families, New York City and communities like it are going to stay sanctuaries to the oppressed and the powerless.

That’s why I led 43 of my colleagues in a letter to the leaders of the House and Senate Armed Services Committee urging them to exclude anything resembling an AI Moratorium from the FY26 NDAA.

Our committee has had at least 5 hearings over 5 years on the many threats to kids online.

How long do we have to keep restating the obvious?

It’s past time to stop talking and start acting.

THE Dr. Una S.T. Clarke is many things to many people: a trailblazer, a bold visionary, a true servant of the people – the list goes on. She’s all that to me, as well. But most importantly, she’s also my mom. Please join me in wishing her a very happy 91st birthday!

I love you, mom! Happy birthday!

Had she yielded then, many of us would not be here now – and that is why I am so very proud to co-sponsor Rep. @sewell.house.gov’s legislation to permanently establish this day as Rosa Parks Day.

Because hers is a name that deserves to be celebrated.

For more than 104 years, Viola Fletcher lived without ever receiving justice for the crimes committed against her and her community during the Tulsa Race Massacre.

May the shame of that failure forever stain our nation.

And may Mrs. Fletcher rest in eternal power and paradise.

For decades, my hometown of Brooklyn has remained an iconic travel destination, with internationally recognized landmarks and imagery that evokes the music, culture, and art only found in our borough.

Our economic health depends truly upon the strength of our tourism industry.

Thank you to America’s veterans who served their nation at home and abroad! For always keeping us safe, you will always have my gratitude.

Wishing you and your families the Happy Veterans Day you deserve!

Starting today, 40 American airports are reducing their traffic due to the Republican Shutdown.

That means longer lines, delays, and cancellations across the country, including at JFK, LaGuardia, Newark, and other airports that countless New Yorkers travel through every single day.

For four decades, Nancy Pelosi devoted herself entirely to progressing this nation on behalf of the American people and her beloved city of San Francisco.

In the wake of Hurricane Melissa’s impact leaving Jamaican infrastructure in ruins, communities reeling, and tens of thousands displaced, it would be unsafe and inhumane to expel Jamaican nationals from the US back to their home while recovery efforts are still ongoing.

“Kill first, ask questions never” is not an acceptable policy position, nor are this administration's extrajudicial military strikes even remotely effective at curbing America’s dire drug and opioid crisis.

Superstorm Sandy was an unimaginable nightmare when it first struck the northeast 13 years ago.

But today, extreme weather events have only grown more devastating, more frequent, and tragically, more normal.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

Duty and decency brought @replamonica.bsky.social to the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility.

I was proud to give her my support at her hearing this week, and she will continue to have it until and beyond she is acquitted of these ridiculous charges against her.

Yesterday, Donald Trump ordered his ICE goons to invade Canal Street and terrorize New Yorkers. My statement on this sadistic and xenophobic attack against our city:

While Trump gets a Cadillac Plan on the taxpayers’ dime, the millions of Americans who will lose their care because his party refuses to extend the ACA enhanced premium tax credits are not so fortunate.

It's a tragedy that he'll never be capable of understanding that.

I marched alongside 100,000 New Yorkers and 7 million Americans nationwide to declare loudly, proudly, and with one voice:

NO KINGS IN AMERICA.
