The new terminal at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) officially opens today! Last week, I had the pleasure of doing a final walkthrough with PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll, Senator Judy Ward, and Rep. Kerry Benninghoff.

This week in Harrisburg, I joined advocates in recognition of Dyslexia Awareness Month. My first bill ever signed into law was in 2014 to create the Dyslexia Screening and Early Literacy Intervention Program.

This new terminal will provide convenient, reliable, and accessible air travel service throughout the region.

Advancing aviation is a bipartisan goal, and I thank Senator Judy Ward and PIT for inviting us!

The House and Senate Transportation Committees recently toured the newly constructed terminal at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT).
As one of the largest airports in PA, about 10 million passengers travel through PIT every year.

This week, I had the opportunity to meet the hardworking men and women that work behind the scenes at PRT's Manchester Garage. They're dedicated workers who make sure that every vehicle is safe and up to standards. Thank you for all your hard work!

This week, I travelled to Pittsburgh to meet with the Port of Pittsburgh Commission. We were lucky to spend time on the river to learn about the Port's mission to invest in our water ways for economic, recreational and environmental benefits.

Once again, the #PAHouse has passed a mass transit funding package that would prevent unnecessary service cuts and also includes many of the initiatives that the #PASenate has demanded but has yet to act on. Time is up! Tell your senator to vote for mass transit funding now!

As Transportation Committee Chairman, I'm demanding action! SEPTA cuts service starting Aug. 24 without funding. Families will lose jobs, kids can't get to school. Real people are getting hurt. The #PaSenate must act NOW! RepNeilson.com #SaveSEPTA #PATransit

The House Transportation Committee showed up to work, did our job and voted to fund SEPTA 7 times while the Senate Republicans refuse to act on it – holding riders livelihoods hostage for political games.

As a union member myself, I stand proudly in solidarity along side my son, a fourth generation union member. I support Philly's municipal workers from AFSCME DC 13 and 33 AFSCME DISTRICT COUNCIL 33 while they fight for fair wages and better working conditions.

As Majority Transportation Chair, I try to learn all I can about how people are getting around in today's world. But nothing beats hands-on experience.

I met with the PA Bus Association to talk about the important services private bus companies provide. Whether you travel by motorcoach, tour, or charter services, these family-owned businesses work hard to get you where you need to go.

I was honored to address the Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education (ABATE). Motorcycle safety is a bipartisan issue and I will continue to fight for it as Majority Chair of the Transportation Committee. Remember to share the road with motorcycles as summer heats up!

My colleagues and I toured SEPTA's Jefferson and 30th Street Stations to learn more about SEPTA's passenger rail operations. I even got to ride inside the locomotive! Thank you to Interim General Manager Scott Sauer for showing us around.
