The forum will include updates on immigration, information about the Village’s Tenant Protection Program, and opportunities for one-on-one conversations with Police, Fire, Village staff, and Partners for Our Communities. Spanish-speaking staff will be available throughout the evening.

YAC meetings will take place once a month, generally on the last Monday of each month from 5–6 PM at our District Office. Following each YAC meeting, we will also host our District 51 Fellowship meeting from 6–7 PM.

Our first YAC meeting of the year will be held on Monday, March 2 from 5–6 PM at our District Office in Palatine. This introductory meeting will cover the mission of the Youth Advisory Council, the projects we’ll work on throughout the year, and how students can get involved.

The YAC gives students the opportunity to share their perspectives, advise Rep. Syed on legislative and budget priorities, and learn more about state government and the legislative process.

Lastly, students who advance to Nationals are eligible for major scholarships, including up to $100,000 in a 529 plan for first place. 📝

The Civics Bee is designed to build civic knowledge, encourage student leadership, and help young people understand how government and civic engagement can create real change. Finalists will compete locally this spring, with the opportunity to advance to the national competition.

This bill will save lives and I cannot thank the Lacson family enough for their fight to turn heartbreaking loss into lifesaving action, so we can protect students across our state.

The bill would require pedestrian gates at every railroad crossing within a mile and a half of a school, creating real, physical protections for students.

We’re grateful to work alongside the Lacson family and the Barrington Student Safety Organization.
