Five years ago I was one of the last members evacuated on January 6th from the Capitol amid a violent insurrection incited by our current President to stop the peaceful transfer of power. On that day more than 140 police officers were seriously injured and several lost their lives (1/3).

I recognized the extraordinary service of retiring San Ramon Police Chief Denton Carlson on the House Floor today. After more than two decades of serving the San Ramon community, Chief Carlson’s retirement is well deserved, but he will be missed.
