IMO, if you are playing hybridized, it’s a new format.
The question for WotC is, what happens if you design hard for hybrid mainstream commander, and any significant percentage of players take to a democratic subformat that rejects it, like Canlander?
Do they take over Canlander then?

Marinated chicken thighs, homemade yellow onion #curry, potato slices, #fresh #coriander, and jasmine rice. A little feta for some tang, but you could skip it.
Did the #marinade and curry in advance, so cooking the #rice was the only thing to stagger time for in getting the chicken done.
So good.

I’m not a huge fan of using the guilds or Tarkir tribes to represent this ability, but I was inspired by Hugmonger’s adoration for hybrid cards that mean different but powerful-enough things for “mono-color” deck construction, and my own love of spell-designs like Batwing Brume.

New Lorwyn card. Thought I’d take a stab at making it commander legal without changing the functionality of the spell.
The only difference is that color identity is derived from mana spent to cast it, and you can’t cast or evoke it without 2x w/b.

Just about a gallon made, between the sweet red onion curry sauce, and the yellow onion & coriander curry base.
Big tub of base will get frozen, one of the little sandwich tubs is already claimed by a neighbor.

So, a tip to save time in getting the pot of onions started faster:
Cut them into quarters, skin and root still on. Peel the outermost layer off with the skin and set it all aside in a bowl while you chop and fire the onions.
While the heat builds, clean those petals for onion chips or pickling.
