Way too much art and music.

Motown: Music made by Black people for a 1960s white American audience. Avoid complex rhythms and raunchiness.

Yes, it's excellent anyway. Love songs for grown-ups.
There is an art to making tunes that you can sing along to halfway through hearing it for the first time.

A more urgent matter is that sound which tells me that a cat has found a bit of plastic in the kitchen and is munching on it.

'Post-modern' is old hat, so now they speak of 'contemporary art.' What word will they use when that turns into a petrified style we've left behind? Is there a fashionable style or is it 'anything goes' these days?
Actually, I'm too lazy to follow the art world and only slightly interested.

I don't know why they've given this a 3/10 rating. I'd say it's at least a 5. But then I appreciate silliness: silly script, silly acting and silly robots.

Such disappointment: Fred Astaire's and Ginger Rogers' tap dancing was overdubbed, as their tapping was too quiet to be captured over the sound of the orchestra.
I wonder what implements the sound effects guy used for it.

Nerd alert:
So they make a new Fantastic 4 movie. And it tells the same origin story as the previous two* and countless comics issues. How original.

* I haven't seen the new one, but the cheap and hilarious Roger Corman version was on Youtube for a while.

Pet peeve: I'm listening to a Wire Tapper from The Wire magazine ("Adventures in new music") and a track comes on that sounds like Azerbaijan's submission to the Eurovision Song Contest. Adventurous indeed. Bah.

The accordion has a long history in Finnish folk music.
The word for accordion is 'hanuri'.
'Hanuri' is also a synonym for 'arse.'

Are there really people who do their Christmas shopping in November? Or is this early marketing assault just pure sadism?

Mo Yan or Yan Mo?
How about westerners spell Asian names with a comma like in library databases: Mo, Yan. That way I'd know immediately which one is the family name and it'll be in the order that East Asians prefer.
Currently, we put Chinese family names first but Japanese ones last: Hayao Miyazaki.

"With my hypnotic powers I had rendered myself invisible." The Shadow

Just one person bothered to listen to this little parody of chamber music. Oh well.

21 years ago, my Track Suite record gained 17,000 listeners. My 'career' has reached an end point.

"Fair is foul and foul is fair,
hover through the fog and filthy air."

The only bit of Shakespeare I remember. For some reason my brain shuts down as soon as someone starts declaiming him.

But this bit would go well with a grime beat.

I read John Shirley back in the early 90s. A good one of the cyberpunk pack. Helsinki's bookshops deteriorated after that, so I never saw his books again.
A horror-sf story by me, not terribly long, newly at The Freezine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. It's a reprint but from not so long ago and it seems so very topical. Freeeeeeeee!

"Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!"

I listen to The Shadow while drawing and numbering faces, so I usually don't go to the computer to skip ads... except this time: A certain toy company pushed a TWO HOUR ad at me. Yikes!

Finland should reverse winter and summer times. For us it's pointless to have one more hour of sunlight at night, the sun setting at midnight instead of 11 pm.
Instead, it would be nice in winter to have a sunset at 4 pm instead of 3 pm.
That's in southern Finland, of course.

Oh all right, let's have just a little bit of reverb.
Designing a percussion sound on my new Korg Opsix. It's lovely.
Generally, I'm opposed to reverb and delay. They turn everything into soup when you're playing fast.

I read about a 9 year old who says "That's so AI!" when he means that it's nonsense.
When we play Scrabble, I tell my mom to skip the Google AI when she looks up words.
