Sure, let’s dissect the mental and physical acuity of the former president who sought to make lives in America better while minimizing the reality of a deranged arsonist dismantling the country we’ve known and loved. What a failure to meet this moment.

I'm watching CNBC. These anchors are so angry. They really didn't believe he'd do it. They're actually just now, 10 years into this shit, realizing he's a maniac hellbent on revenge and there's no grand plan for the markets. Better late than never but holy shit.

My guest article in @healthydebate.bsky.social looks at why we need mandatory masks in healthcare, why surgical masks aren’t enough, and how the mounting threats to public health are putting lives at risk.

If you’re a healthcare worker, mask up. Show us you take your oath to “do no harm” seriously
‘We might die because you won’t wear a mask’: A plea to health-care workers - Healthy Debate
Let’s start protecting people in health-care settings as that’s where people should have the best understanding of a viral threat.

Trump just undid the only good thing GWB did in his entire 8 years.
Many sudden and shocking health care developments this week. But this was a big one: The Trump administration on Friday paused funding for PEPFAR, the famed program to fight HIV/AIDS around the world.

Funds for fight against HIV/AIDS paused in Trump aid freeze
The President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR, is credited with saving 25 million lives worldwide and has long enjoyed bipartisan support.

They do not recognize the documents. That statement is chilling.

If the LA wildfires have taught us anything, it’s that government are ill equipped for disasters & probably not going to save you

Covid, disability & clean air activists are the ones doing the work

LA was considering a mask ban… but activists showed up

Wrestle w/every word of this 🧵. Esp organizers.

Refrain since Nov: "We need community to resist/survive fascism."

Yet work/conferences/organizing events/celebrations/friends/family won't mask, eat outside, filter air... isolating disabled & at-risk folks.

It's lonely. Scary. Infuriating.
I love the outpouring of love for David Lynch.

I don't love how many of the people who are remembering him have stopped masking in public.

If you've stopped masking, you're why he had to choose to spend his final years isolated at home.

I don't know what to do with that anger.

BC nurse who works in long term care is “taking a stand” against having to wear a mask to protect vulnerable people in her care

She’ll be designated to “casual” & barred from picking up shifts if she won’t mask up

How many patients & LTC residents have to die before we stop fighting mask mandates?
EXCLUSIVE: BC nurse risking it all in stand against mask mandate
British Columbia recently reimposed mask mandates on those working in health authority-operated facilities, and while most have complied, some have taken a stand against the policy.

This is the one. It’s not the only correct argument in this thread but it’s the one with mass appeal, which is to say you don’t have to know anything about trans people to go “hey yeah”

It’s an astounding failure of governments & public health that they haven’t educated the public on clean air

We should have it in all public buildings with CO2 numbers visible at entrance

Less infections, better concentration, improved asthma & allergies… there’s no reason to wait:
Science tells us that portable air filters reduce infections. It's time for public health authorities to make this clear
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Canadian public health advisors and politicians have shared mixed messages about the utility of portable air filters…

This is disgusting. We are failing the most vulnerable. Those with the least agency. People who can’t protect themselves.

No one deserves to get covid because they required emergency care.

What’s worse they now have a confirmed covid case right beside pregnant & postpartum mothers (and babies) /1

Thank you NYC for setting such a great example of public health messaging!

Respirators protect you from all kinds of airborne viruses - including Covid.

If you can’t afford one - check for a mask bloc in your area.
