Escheresque study day on the (ab)uses of AI. A collegial gathering where serious questioning of stylistic and epistemic conventions in a field born 68 years ago inspired inventive projections. Non-Euclidean flights of thought, with lines converging in one direction and diverging in another.

Two pleasant surprises. I still purchase printed books because I like to have them as random indices in my dwellings. Situated reminders of something I’ll never finish.

Piranesi's map of fragments. What brings the disparate together if not a hermeneutics of analogy? To bridge regions across topologies, to reframe what appears to be broken as the art of collecting fragments.

The universe as library and the agitation of the baroque are fitting literary metaphors for metamodern information anxieties. Leibniz and his cabinet were together a sort of transformer. Legal-bureucratic skeuomorphisms.
