Studio Report: Rug braiding has been irresistible ever since i finished Big Blue Eddy. In honor of Jupiter Cazimi + Summer Solstice, I’m romantically collecting spiral dynamic metaphors, thinking of fleshy vortexes, glistening puddles, and the pregnant pause between fertile drips. Requests Welcome!

I’m birthing this blue rug, my first commission in 15 years. A braided rag rug is created from the center out. It grows in a spiral as it makes laps around its own edge. It feels like it’s going fast when you begin making one, but the larger it gets, the slower the growing goes.
