Personal recommendation would be vermouth. Small 125ml glass of wine at 13% abv is 1.6 units vs 60ml (typical serving) glass of vermouth at 16% abv is approx 1.2 units.
An open bottle will keep for 1 month in the fridge, and is often available in 1/2 litre bottles.

I understand he's opening another golf course in Scotland this year. If he wants Royalty to be seen to be in attendance, they will. Hard to decline when you're practically neighbours? Not sure the monarchies of our European neighbours could refuse his photo-op either.
