Anniversary of the worst incident in RNLI history.
9th Dec 1886 lifeboats from St Annes, Lytham & Southport launched to rescue the crew of the Mexico, wrecked in a storm. Only the Lytham boat returned. 27 brave lifeboatmen were drowned. St Annes crew, and the monument that's still at the seafront.
