At least the way media talked about him around the time he got picked up by Minnesota, he was always advertised as a puck mover, a lower line up guy with PP2 upside. Really interesting to see those stats for him.

If you think about ex-islanders who now find themselves in the western conference this quote makes a lot more sense tbh. I don’t believe that teams wouldn’t line up to take Kreider with a rising cap.

Lindgren the one guy on the roster I could see the Rangers selling for pure futures, and the Rangers have enough cap space already to do whatever they want, so retaining 50% would be easy.

Did people just memory hole 2016? This same exact thing happened and then they got dog walked by Pittsburgh. The difference here is that the 2016 NYR doubled down and got Eric Staal.

For what it’s worth, an agent allowing a bad experience with one client affect negotiations with another is borderline malpractice. Saying you won’t take a hometown discount is one thing, making a contract about sticking it to a GM because your jilted is another.
