Threadbare Hope is officially released! I had so much fun working on this project and building off of what started as such a small idea. This last quarter has been super fun, and I can't wait to check out everyone else's games as well.

Threadbare Hope by Reidar
Awaken in a labyrinth completely unfamiliar to you with only a red thread to help you escape.

I'm doing a few finishing touches before releasing my game, Threadbare Hope! The first addition I made was to add darkness and give the player a torch, making the game a bit more atmospheric and challenging. A really cool effect is that the Thread is unaffected by the darkness!

I believe I've managed to fix the problem of my Box Collider and Red Thread moving at different speeds, so it should stay consistent now across different frame rates. The timers for both are now able to be set to the exact same number and line up really well.

I've made a lot of progress on Threadbare Hope! I now have a working title screen and new game button, which I think is good for the time being. I might update the look of it during polishing but for now, I'm happy how it has turned out.

So far, I've started building the starting room of Threadbare Hope, my upcoming 3D maze game, and nailing down the aesthetic I'll be going with. I've landed on a low-poly dungeon for the setting of the maze, and I'll build out the maze as I go and make it look like a dungeon.

I decided to build upon my original idea of making a Frogger-type game, called Crisis Crossing, where the number of lanes increases the farther you go. It will tell the simple life of a frog and its journey across a dangerous highway! The frog must collect the fly to progress.

First, I played I Very Much Don’t Want To Be Here with Emma, which seems to be a non-game type of game. The descriptions saying “Theses are supposed to be fun, right?” supports the idea that the whole game being just a room full of blue squares you can’t leave is on purpose.

For my simple game, called Crisis Crossing, I am going to make a game where you have to cross a highway as a frog while dodging the cars going in both directions. If I can get the scoreboard working, you'll get a point every time you get to the other side.

Today, I released a small new game titled The Macabre Madhouse! It's a short horror story that takes a couple of playthroughs to piece together. Let me know what your interpretation is!

For my Project 2.2, I decided to make a little text-based horror game, where the descriptions will do most of the talking rather than images (they would be rather gruesome).

It's less of a game and more of a narrative experience, but there will be a couple of player choices.

David and I played A Dark Room, which seems to be a sort of resource management game, where you’re trying to survive out in a forest by gathering wood to build traps and keep the fire lit. The more wood we got the more objects we could craft, like a hut to attract others.

Owen and I played the Barnacle Goose Experiment, which seems like a game based around making different objects by combining others, but with a twist. Most of the objects are super weird, like we could combine piss and tears to make rain. It takes time to make some items.

Tyson and I played Sonic OC 7, a game where you interact with a 15 year old who appears to be trapped inside of a game or computer. We named our character Patrick the LeMieux and went on a bit of an adventure before Scout the Wolf had a some kind of glitch and changed names.

Leon and I played Wolfgirls in Love, which is less of a game and more of a narrative experience in which you follow a short journey of two apparently werewolf girls. Most of the story is told through short bursts of 4 or less words, describing sensations and actions.

Kiko and I played You Are Jeff Bezos, in which you become Jeff Bezos and are given the opportunity to spend his 156 billion dollars on whatever you want with the goal of spending it all! You can make smart helpful choices or crazy ones, like paying taxes!

For my simple piece of Unity code, I decided to make a coin flipper that advertises itself the "the most 50/50 way of gambling", although that will be a little misleading.

The intent is to make it so that you get a certain number of heads or tails in a row to win.

Here's the first peek at the cityscape I've been working on for Project 1. I've been utilizing assets from a variety of packages I downloaded for free from the Unity story. So far, I have most of the city built out and will be working on adding environmental details.

I played Out for Delivery with Despina, which didn’t feel so much like a game and more like an interactive movie that was just following the lives of people going through a delivery in China right before Covid. There was bubbles above characters when they spoke.

For my Project 0, I originally just had some fun trying to spell my name using the blocks and rotating them before adding colors so they wouldn't be just grey.

After that, I decided to try to make a little scene, just a strip of road going through some skyscrapers. Not done yet.
