Cold blooded murderers, child abusers and some others with egregious crimes against others may be deemed to unsafe to ever release. They are still human beings though and should be incarcerated in a safe place where they have a chance to become a better person even with no chance of release.

For something like robberies or burglaries, punishment has to be part of a sentence to deter future bad conduct, but it can be administered in a way that addresses the underlying cause of the mistakes made and prepares the person to be a productive member of society after their release.

For violent crimes, bring in experts to evaluate the person and what they would need to be rehabilitated. A man who has engaged in domestic violence repeatedly needs a different incarceration-rehabilitation sentence than a 17 year old involved in a shootout among gang members.

For some property crimes driven by long term drug addiction, drug rehabilitation at a secure facility with other rehabilitative courses, education and job training. Create an incentive where if people do well for several years after release, charges are expunged from their record.

Ideally, we would have different tracks in the criminal justice system. Drug crimes involving addiction would be on a non-criminal track that required the person to complete treatment and job training, if applicable. Case dismissed and record expunged automatically upon completion.

For the relatively small percentage of people who have engaged in violence and pose an ongoing threat to public safety, we should have very safe facilities where they can be humanely incarcerated without crowding them in with others who are serving shorter sentences and eligible for release.
November 15, 2025 at 5:49 PM
Instead of prison abolition, we should be calling for public safety tax dollars to be spent turning prisons into places where rehabilitation, education and job training are the central focus. If we lived in a society with an informed public, people would demand evidence based approaches that work.

@govpritzker.illinois.gov, Democrats from across America are not going to forget that you ordered the ILSP to violate the rights of peaceful protestors to help ICE so that they could send more thugs out on kidnapping missions.
November 15, 2025 at 5:39 PM
@govpritzker.illinois.gov, how long are you going to allow the ILSP to assault and violate the rights of peaceful protestors? They’re working at your command so you have far more responsibility for what’s happening now than Trump.
November 15, 2025 at 5:36 PM
We’re a few weeks away from Trump announcing for Christmas, he’s going to let his favorite few dozen wealthy, loyal supporters bring trucks to Ft. Knox and take as much gold as they can load in an hour.
November 15, 2025 at 8:32 AM
The press should relentlessly hound @govpritzker.illinois.gov about why he is allowing the ILSP to assault and violate the rights of peaceful Americans on behalf of ICE/BP. Not only is it abhorrent, but by working security, the ILSP is allowing ICE to send more thugs out on kidnapping missions.

Soon to be Governor Spanberger and the Democratic Majorities in the State Legislature should investigate this matter thoroughly. A number of people should be fired and several attorneys disbarred. Several of those people should potentially be referred to the Attorney General for prosecution.
November 15, 2025 at 1:49 AM
Governor-elect @abigailspanberger.com should have her transition team planning how they will address this mess the moment she is sworn into office. The current Rector, Vice Rector and anyone else who helped DOJ should be fired. Every attorney should be referred to the VA State Bar for discipline.
November 15, 2025 at 1:41 AM
I'd be willing to bet the percentage of recent ICE/BP recruits with a criminal record is well north of 10%. If the @nytimes.com, @cnn.com and the rest of the MSM wants to do their job, they'd run this 2.5% figure nonstop to expose Trump's lie about going after the "worst of the worst."
November 15, 2025 at 1:22 AM
None of those are Portland PD. They’re stationed across the street and are not allowed to intervene. They should be arrest ice agents who commit assaults, but at least they aren’t assaulting protesters like the ISP at Broadview who are acting under @govpritzker.illinois.gov’s orders.

It’d be great if someone would ask that klansman what he thinks will happen to the prices of agricultural products and construction if we kick out the core of the labor force in those sectors.

Imagine ignorant you have to be to believe such an absurd lie that millions of undocumented people are getting mortgages and driving up housing prices.
