That's good to know, thanks. Bearish doesn't even begin to describe how unconfident I am that this version will pass, so I hope that's enough time to go back to the drawing board and take out the poison pills.

So basically we're screwed right? How the hell would this funding mechanism pass? The Senate Bill was fine, this is completely ridiculous.

That's a good deal lmao

CDOT is working on ones at Kimball and Wellington + Rogers and Ashland rn. Not of this scale though, this was part of a larger streetscape project.

It's ridiculous we haven't yet. UP is charging $10 million per month and I can't imagine it costs more than $5 billion, meaning with ZERO cost increases, Metra should be able to buy the line UP ISN'T USING and get their investment back in about 40 years on rental costs alone.

Currently against the law. There's a bill to potentially open the possibility in the state congress I believe.

Most East Asian metro systems I've used have these and yeah that's my guess. Very prominent in Taipei as well.

I mean, the main street will have mixed-use 20 story buildings and the tallest one will be 38. I think this is a lot more realistic than Sterling Bay's original proposal.

I'm practically begging them to do this cause my fares are comped already anyways, lol

And the Chicago pension debacle now. He's a TV governor who doesn't really give a shit about our largest city

Rather uninterestingly an extremely conservative/libertarian lean here. I really do wonder what Thompson and Klein are going for with their fake movement

Almost as bad as the megamansions buying their neighbors' house to tear it down for a side yard (which is never used)
I literally spit on the houses of people that do this

We should charge one million dollars per deconversion permit and put the money directly into the Green Social Housing fund. And rigorously prosecute anyone who does it illegally.

"we don't think people should feel safer" being their read on a TARGETED GANG shooting is so transparently stupid.

They do this way out west near Midway.

I'll look for one. They're in city procurement documents pretty frequently. Look out for streets with no sidewalks, curbs, or gutters. They're mostly in low density suburban style areas on the far far south side.

CDOT references the WPA frequently. We're still replacing "WPA streets"
