Since today is free-fares-hot-take day, here's mine: after decades of disinvestment most Americans simply can't imagine a transit network that's truly attractive to riders, so they default to "make it free" instead of investing in things that actually improve performance, frequency, and reliability.

It's telling how the media allows Republicans to get away with this funny math on prescription drugs and then will present Medicare For All like it's a huge, unpaid-for cost even though it would save trillions per year on net
