I thought you had mispelled "winners" for a moment.... 🤣

Indeed.

You can't rescue a small business that has gone bust....

🤦‍♂️

Living in Burnham it was always a relief to know Southend was in the way.....

Part of life, between that and Bradwell 🤣

Personally, after my grandfather explained the issues with soggy ammo, I was always more concerned about the ship.

No idea what they'll do now. Nothing, again, I guess.

Most can't bend over that far.

They only get as far as his arse.

Used to be.

Hehehe....... Appreciated!!!

We did the Crouch, Roach, and as flank station, down the sands there if Southend were out elsewhere.

Fun days, barring the broken vertebrae 🤣

This map here is quite good. See the under Status & Risk.

"near the Isle of Sheppey about 1.5 mi (2.4 km) from Sheerness and 5 mi (8.0 km) from Southend"

Very much so..... With a lot more people & infra.

Don't forget the biggest populated area is Southend....

No loss admittedly, but it may not play well with voters. If there are any left.

Because they may also inconveniently demolish hundreds of thousands of homes & businesses.

A kilotonne or so of high explosives makes a big bang over a regrettably large area.

And due to the nature of explosives in salt water you won't know until you start messing about.... 🤣

When I was on the RNLI at Burnham my mate was on a shout and we had to ask the buggers to stop firing over his & the casualtys heads..... 🤣

Cost......

Oh. Tricky as well.
November 11, 2025 at 4:31 PM
Southend will happily get a makeover too 🤣
November 11, 2025 at 4:29 PM
Used to go closer ;-)

Either way you won't feel a thing at that distance 🤣
November 11, 2025 at 4:27 PM
Oooooffffff..... 🤣

Bomb disposal are handy.

Mate to truant school to go fishing.

Used to pick up munitions regularly in the Estuary.. Including some that fizzed....

It they had a good catch they put them down with a marker & collected on bad days - got refunded loss of catch & net damage 🤦‍♂️🤣🤣

As my grandfather (marine engineer & putter inner of MGB engines in the war) famously told me re the Montgomery:

"Explosives in salt water go one of two ways. Very stable, or not at all stable. You never know which...."

Defo FAFO material.

And the reason they don't just dredge it all up.
