Living in Burnham it was always a relief to know Southend was in the way.....

Personally, after my grandfather explained the issues with soggy ammo, I was always more concerned about the ship.

Because they may also inconveniently demolish hundreds of thousands of homes & businesses.
A kilotonne or so of high explosives makes a big bang over a regrettably large area.
And due to the nature of explosives in salt water you won't know until you start messing about.... 🤣

When I was on the RNLI at Burnham my mate was on a shout and we had to ask the buggers to stop firing over his & the casualtys heads..... 🤣

Used to pick up munitions regularly in the Estuary.. Including some that fizzed....
It they had a good catch they put them down with a marker & collected on bad days - got refunded loss of catch & net damage 🤦♂️🤣🤣
